Confirming The Word

Updated: Mar 26

The Word
The Word

The Bible is amazing, to begin with, but it has some powerful scriptures that activate the will of God on earth.  One is in the last words Jesus said to His disciples, as in Mark 16.  Let’s take a look at Mark 16:14-20  14 Later He appeared to the eleven disciples themselves as they were reclining at the table, and He reprimanded them for their unbelief and hardness of heart because they had not believed those who had seen Him after He had risen from the dead. 15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. 16 The one who has believed and has been baptized will be saved, but the one who has not believed will be condemned. 17 These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name, they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not harm them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” 19 So then, when the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. 20 And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them, and confirmed the word by the signs that followed. This scripture makes it legal for Jesus to do the work He really wants to do on the earth.  It allows Him to have His will accomplished through people who understand how to activate His words.

If you notice, the word “them” is italicized.  That means the translators added that word to add flow or facilitate their interpretation of what they thought was meant.  But let’s read it without the added word.   “And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with and confirmed the WORD by the signs that followed.”   That makes more sense.  Jesus works with and confirms the Word we speak with signs and wonders that follow.  The word confirmed in the Greek means to establish.  Notice this passage states that Jesus did this AFTER He was received into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.  If He did it then, He wants to still do it today, AND He is confirming His word with signs and wonders through those who understand how to “work this word.”  We always say at His Image Ministries, “The Word works when you work it, but it won’t if you don’t.”

Jeremiah 1:11 says,   11And the word of the Lord came to me, saying, “What do you see, Jeremiah?” And I said, “I see a branch of an almond tree.” 12 Then the Lord said to me, “You have seen well, for I am watching over My word to perform it.”

Jesus is watching over His word to perform it. He is responsible for performing His word.

We are responsible for speaking His word in faith…full of conviction, that what He said He can do.  You may be saying, “but how is He going to do it?”  It is not up to us to figure out how.  Getting into the “how” questioning will do nothing but produce doubt.  That will hinder your faith and the manifestation of the Word from being performed.  Satan knows he cannot stop the Word of God from being performed.  But he knows if he can stop us from speaking it, from being fully persuaded in Jesus’ ability to perform it, and get us to start questioning it, then WE will nullify it.

But have another promise in Isaiah 55:9-13    “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord.  9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts than your thoughts.10 For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, And do not return there without watering the earth And making it produce and sprout, And providing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; 11 So will My word be which goes out of My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the purpose for which I sent it. 12 For you will go out with joyAnd be led in peace; The mountains and the hills will break into shouts of joy before you, And all the trees of the field will clap their hands. 13 Instead of the thorn bush, the juniper will come up, And instead of the stinging nettle, the myrtle will come up;And it will be a memorial to the Lord, An everlasting sign which will not be eliminated.”

We see His full intention concerning the implementation of His Word stated here.  He expects it to not return to Him without SUCCEEDING in the matter for which it is sent.  The Scripture goes on to say that when it succeeds we will go forth with joy and be led in peace. We are to speak the Word, being fully persuaded that what He said He will and can do. I know I keep repeating this. But we need to GET IT!  Stop doubting Him.  Start speaking the Word!  Then praise Him for performing His word.

Add to these Scriptures Psalm 103:20-21 which states Bless the Lord, you His angels, Mighty in strength, who perform His word, Obeying the voice of His word! 21 Bless the Lord, all you His angels, You who serve Him, doing His will.  This is the “how” He is going to perform His word.  The angels who are mighty in strength go forth and obey the voice of the Word of God we give voice to.  You don’t “loose” the angels and expect anything.  Nowhere in the Bible are we told to “loose” the angels.  What activates the angels is when we speak the Word of God.  They obey the VOICE of the Word of God.  You and I must give the Word of God a voice.  This is the great thing about praying in the Spirit as well.  We know when we pray in the Spirit, we are saying what Holy Spirit has been hearing said.  John 16:13-16 says 13 But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. 14 He will glorify Me, for He will take from Mine and will disclose it to you. 15 All things that the Father has are Mine; this is why I said that He takes from Mine and will disclose it to you.  You see, Holy Spirit takes what He hears Jesus saying, His words, and He speaks them through us in tongues unknown to man.  Jesus said this would glorify Him.  Then the angels who are mighty in strength go forth and perform the Words of Jesus that we have just released.  So whether the rhema words spoken during times of intercession and praying in the spirit, or repeating the logos word of God, the angels go forth and begin to perform these words with “signs that follow.”  Praise Jesus!!  Let’s purpose to start giving the angels something to perform.  Put the Word of God in your mouth…and it will get in your heart…and then out of the abundance of the heart the mouth will speak…being fully persuaded!  This is not as hard as we have made it.  Let’s go forth as directed in the Great Commission as seen in Mark 16 and allow Jesus’ will to be confirmed!
